| Vision : | To be Asia Pacific’s best communications group This is measured by delivering sustainable shareholder value, maximising customer satisfaction and being an employer of choice. | | Mission : | Breaking Barriers, Building Bonds - We enable communication by breaking barriers and building bonds.
- We help businesses and people communicate anytime, anywhere and in many ways
- We make communications easier, faster, more economical and reliable by
- breaking the barriers of distance, price, time, technology and the unknown; and
- building strong bonds among ourselves, with our shareholders, customers and business partners.
- We believe that creating and delivering value to our customers, employees and shareholders is fundamental to our business.
| | Strategy : | Our goal is to enhance our businesses and strengthen our position as a premier integrated communications services provider in the Asia Pacific region. To achieve this objective, the five elements of our strategy are: - Lead in Singapore - In Singapore we are the leading telecommunications operator with a stable and cash generative business. We have maintained our leading market position despite liberalisation of the market and intensifying competition since 1997. This reflects our ability to offer a comprehensive package of communications services, coupled with strong brand recognition. We aim to continue to defend our market share and margins. We also offer customers integrated IT and telecommunications solutions through wholly-owned subsidiary NCS, which has a leading position in the Singapore IT services market.
- Grow in Australia - In Australia, our wholly-owned subsidiary Optus is the leading challenger to the incumbent telecommunications operator. Optus aims to maintain its track record of market share growth, to expand margins, and hence grow profits and cashflow. To reach these goals Optus will: deliver the most simple, innovative and reliable experience for customers; ensure cost leadership in target markets; establish leadership in attractive new markets; strengthen the company's "challenger" culture; and leverage the scale of the SingTel Group as a whole.
- Partner across Asia - SingTel has strategic investments in several associated companies across Asia Pacific. AIS in Thailand, Bharti in India, Globe in the Philippines, PBTL in Bangladesh and Telkomsel in Indonesia have leading positions in their respective mobile markets, where strong penetration growth is contributing to rapid profits growth. Our focus is on execution and maximising the value of existing businesses and our regional partnerships. This has included reviewing opportunities to increase shareholdings in existing associates and we also have the flexibility to consider new investments. We have a track record of making successful acquisitions and investments. The geographic focus will remain in Asia Pacific, with a preference for strategic investments where SingTel can add value by taking an active role in management, and which can be funded from internal cash flow generation.
- Connect Asia – To serve the needs of multinational corporations, SingTel has a network of 38 offices in 19 countries and territories throughout Asia Pacific, in Europe and the USA. These offices enable SingTel to deliver reliable and quality network solutions to its customers, either on its own or with local partners. The Group also has an extensive infrastructure made up of satellite networks and submarine cable systems throughout Asia Pacific, providing connectivity across the region and to the rest of the world.
- Innovate for the Future - Providing innovative communications solutions to meet evolving customer needs has been core to our success. To enhance our position as an integrated provider of wireline and wireless services for businesses and consumers, we will nurture our human and intellectual capital to achieve organisational excellence.
