Corporate Governance

SingTel is committed to achieving high standards of corporate conduct. It recognises the importance of having in place a set of well-defined corporate governance processes to enhance corporate performance and accountability.

The listing of SingTel's shares on the Singapore Exchange ("SGX") and the Australian Securities Exchange ("ASX") subjects SingTel to two sets of listing rules and the requirement to report against two sets of corporate governance principles and recommendations.  Where one exchange has more stringent requirements, SingTel will seek to observe the more stringent requirements.

SingTel’s Full Financial Report for 2009 includes a Corporate Governance Report that describes SingTel’s main corporate governance practices with reference to the SGX and ASX principles of corporate governance and best practice recommendations. Unless otherwise stated in this Corporate Governance Report, those practices were in place for the financial year ended 31 March 2009. In developing and reviewing its corporate governance policies and practices, SingTel has sought to adopt a balanced approach by observing the spirit, and not just the letter, of the SGX and ASX corporate governance principles, taking into account its evolving needs as well as local and international developments.
