Description Q1: Can I make overseas calls from any phone using a WorldCard™?
Yes, you can call from almost any phone, including SingTel public payphones and mobile phones. If you are calling from SingTel public payphone, an additional payphone access charge of S$0.06 per minute is applied to the calling rate. Please note some of the public payphones overseas may require the deposit of coins or phonecard. Some hotels restrict access to toll-free numbers. A service charge may also apply for calls placed through hotels. Please check with the hotel reception on service charges. Please note that access numbers are not toll-free when dialling from a mobile phone.
Q2: What are the denominations available for WorldCard™? Physical WorldCard™ from retail outlets comes in S$10, S$20 or S$50 prepaid talktime (value). S$10, S$20, S$50 and S$100 prepaid talktime (value) are available from DBS/POSB ATMs or AXS stations. S$20 and S$50 denominations are available from OCBC ATMs. Value of talktime is indicated as 'Amount' in the ATM transaction receipt.
Q3: How many types of voice prompts does WorldCard™ have? You may choose your preferred language option after dialling '1899'. Enter '1' for English, '2' for Mandarin, '3' for Japanese, '4' for Tamil, '5' for Malay and '6' for Bengali. The voice prompts in the 6 different languages will guide you through the dialling procedure.
Q4: Can I use WorldCard™ Economy Service to call back Singapore? No. WorldCard™ Economy Service is only applicable for outbound calls ie call from Singapore to overseas.
Usage Q5: Do I need to insert the card into payphone when making a call? No, you don't need to as the card can be used to make call from almost any phone.
Q6: What if my office PABX bars the 4-digit number (ie. 1899)? Please dial 6 668 1111 to access the service. However, local call charges apply when using this number.
Q7: How can I check the expiry date of my WorldCard™? WorldCard is printed with an expiry date of 12 months upon production.
You may check the expiry date of your WorldlCard™ by dialling 1899 (toll free) or 6 668 1111 and follow the voice prompts. After entering the 12-digit card number, press '0' for Other Options, and press '1' to check expiry date.
Q8: How do I check the balance in my WorldCard™? You will be informed of the balance value of your card after you key-in your 12-digit card number. You will also be informed of the maximum call duration (or talktime) after you enter the telephone number that you wish to call.
Q9: How do I transfer the low value balance in my WorldCard™ to another WorldCard™? To maximise your talktime by combining the values of 2 cards* : 1. Dial 1899 (toll free) or 6 668 1111 and follow the voice prompts. 2. Press '0' for Other Options, after entering the 1st card number.* 3. Press '2' for option 'To Combine Card Value'. 4. Enter 2nd card number when prompted. 5. Press '1' to confirm after system announces the balance of 2nd card card. 6. Upon successful merging, the new expiry date and combined card value of 1st card will be announced.
* The 1st card (which you wish to transfer the balance to) must not be of zero value. It must also have a 12-digit card number.
Q10: How do I make a follow-on call? To make a follow-on call without keying in your card number again: 1. Press the '#' key and hold for about 2 seconds after your first call. 2. You will hear a voice prompt to guide you through the next call.
Q11: How do I use the Announcement Override feature in WorldCard™? As a frequent WorldCard™ customer, this feature saves you time to enter the overseas telephone number without having to listen to the WorldCard™ welcome message, language and service option prompts. For eg. when you want to make a call using WorldCard IDD option using English prompts, have the 'card number' and 'country code, area code and telephone number' ready, then you just need to key in the following in one sequence:
1899 - 1 - '12-digit card number'# - 1 - 'country code, area code, telephone no.'#
Note : - is a short pause of about 1 second and # is the required ending character.
Rates & Special Scheme of Service Q12: Is there any subscription needed for WorldCard™? No, WorldCard™ comes with a prepaid value. You will have to purchase the card first before you make any outgoing calls.
Q13: How much does a local call cost? Each local call costs $0.102 per minute. If you are calling from SingTel public payphone, an additional S$0.06 per minute payphone access charge is applied.
