Voice Roaming - Pay-As-U-Roam

Pay-As-U-Roam is a new roaming service ideal for occasional travellers to make and receive calls when overseas as there is no registration or monthly subscription fee! What's more, you can also send and receive SMS!

Pay-As-U-Roam is automatically available to all SingTel Mobile post-paid customers and you only pay a 20% surcharge on your roaming charges.


PAUR

1) What is “PAUR”?

This service allows SingTel Mobile postpaid customer to call while overseas without subscribing to Autoroam service.

Customers can enjoy the following roaming services:

  • Able to receive calls while roaming.
  • Able to send and receive SMS while roaming
  • Able to make outgoing calls on supported networks using GlobalDial
  • Able to make IDD (International Direct Dial example : + )

2) What are the benefits of using the PAUR ?

  • Ability to roam in most of SingTel Mobile’s roaming destinations
  • Free to all SingTel Mobile postpaid customers. (no registration or subscription charges)

3) Is PAUR available to all SingTel Mobile customers?

PAUR is available to SingTel Mobile postpaid customers only.
Note: Only non-business registered customers above age 21 years are automatically provided with PAUR.

4) What are the destinations that support PAUR?

PAUR is available in over 370 networks in 200 destinations. Please click here for the list of supported operators.

5) If I am unable to use GlobalDial 121 to make an outgoing call while  roaming in a particular network, what should I do?

You may want to switch to another network and try again. To make a manual network selection (depending on your handset model):

Step 1: Select “Settings” and/or “Phone Settings” from the menu

Step 2: Select “Network Selection”

Step 3: Select “Manual” and wait for the list of networks to be displayed

Step 4: Choose the desired supported network from the list.

6) With PAUR can I receive incoming calls when I am roaming?

Yes. You are able to receive calls when you are roaming in the supported destinations.

7) With PAUR, can I make outgoing calls when I am roaming?

Yes. PAUR allows you to use GlobalDial 121 (a call-back method) and IDD, which supports outgoing calls to countries even outside Singapore.

8) With PAUR, can I still use normal IDD to make outgoing calls when roaming?

9) Are there any subscription charges for PAUR?

No. This service is available no registration fee or monthly subscription fee! Usage charge applies.

10) With PAUR, can I make outgoing local calls in the country where I am roaming in, e.g. I am roaming in UK trying to make a local call to a UK number?

Yes, you can make this call using GlobalDial 121 and IDD. Please note that usage charges will apply.

11) Who can I send SMS to while i am roaming overseas?

You can send a SMS to any:

SingTel Mobile customer

SingTel Fixed Line SMS customer

M1 customer

StarHub Mobile customer

Overseas friend's mobile phone (provided that the recipient's network support Global SMS. Please click here to check the list of supported networks for Global SMS.)

12) How do I send a SMS to a Singapore number while I am roaming overseas?

To send, simply follow the steps below:

a) Go to 'To compose message'

b) Press 'SEND'

c) Key

d) Press 'OK'

Please note that you will only be able to send SMS in countries/destinations where Mobile Originating (Outgoing) Short Messaging is supported by the overseas operator's network.

13) How do I send a SMS to an overseas mobile network's customer while I am roaming overseas?

To send, simply follow the steps below:

a) Go to 'To compose message'

b) Press ‘SEND'

c) Key <+>

(Note: Message without the “+” sign will not be sent successfully)

d) Press ‘OK'

Please note that you will only be able to send SMS in countries/destinations where Mobile Originating (Outgoing) Short Messaging is supported by the overseas operator's network.

14) Can my friend or family member in Singapore reply to my SMS?

Yes, they are able to reply your SMS as the sender field will carry your mobile number.

15) Can my overseas friend reply to my SMS?

Yes, but only if his/her network allows the replying of SMS.

16) Can I send SMS wherever I roam to?

Yes, you can send SMS provided that you roam to countries/destinations where Mobile Originating (Outgoing) Short Messaging is supported by the overseas operator's network.

Application & Termination Enquiries

17) How do I know whether I have been activated with PAUR?

Please call 1626 for further queries. If your mobile line is registered under a company (BRN), please contact your Account Manager or call 1800-7337788 for application enquires.

18) I have not been activated with PAUR. How can I apply for this service?

You can call our Customer Service Hotline at 1626 or walk-in to any Customer Service Counter to apply. If you are eligible, our CSOs will proceed to activate this service for you. Alternatively, you may log on SAVI (Service Activation via Internet) to apply now.The activation fee is free of charge.

19) My mobile line is registered under my company. Can I apply for PAUR?

Yes. You can contact your account manager or the Corporate Hotline at 1800-7337788.

20) I am under the age of 21. Can I apply for PAUR?

Approval will be given on a case-to-case basis. To apply, simply walk-in to any Customer Service Counter with your parents/guarantor.

21) My mobile line is temporary disconnected. Can I apply for PAUR?

No. Your mobile line must be reconnected before PAUR can be activated.

22) I have outstanding payment arising from my mobile account. Can I apply for PAUR?

No. You will not be given PAUR if you have outstanding amount arising from your mobile account. To enjoy this service, you have to clear your payment first.

23) I have outstanding payment arising from other services other than my mobile account. Can I apply for PAUR?

No. You will not be given PAUR even though the outstanding amount does not arise from your mobile account. To enjoy this service, you have to clear your payment as soon as possible.

24) How do I terminate PAUR?

You can use our *SEND service to terminate PAUR. Simply key *121 and press ‘SEND' to submit your request. You will receive a SMS message requesting for your option. Choose “Options” and reply with “3” to terminate PAUR. You will then receive a SMS message (within 1 min) to confirm whether your request is successfully received. Your PAUR will be terminated within 1 working day.

You can also call 1626 to terminate PAUR.

Note: If your mobile line is registered under a company (BRN), please contact your Account Manager or call 1800-7337788 for termination enquires.

25) Can I terminate my Autoroam service and apply for PAUR instead? What are the charges involved?

Yes. Please call 1626 for this request. There are no registration or subscription charges for PAUR. Please note that there is a minimum sub. period of 3 month for Autoroam. Premature termination may constitute a penalty charge.

26) Can I terminate my PAUR and apply for Autoroam service instead?

Yes, you can. Charges for Autoroam service will apply, $10.50 monthly subscription fee. (No registration charge including scenarios below) Please call 1626 for more information.

a) When customer requests to change from PAUR to chargable Autoroam.

b) When customer applys foe chargeable Autoroam.

c) When customer ceased the bundled AR and subsequently apply for activation of bundled Autoroam again.

Call Charges and SMS Charges

27) What are the charges for sending a SMS while I am roaming overseas?

Charges for sending SMS are subjected to prevailing SMS rates imposed by overseas operators. Please click here for the latest roaming SMS charges.

However, if you send a Global SMS (sending SMS to your overseas friend who subscribes to an overseas operator), you will be charged 15 cents per SMS, plus the prevailing SMS rate imposed by the overseas operator.

Please note that Global SMS will not be part of the free monthly SMS that SingTel Mobile customers get.

28) What are the charges like for receiving a SMS while I am roaming overseas?

This depends on whether the overseas operator charges for receiving SMS. However, most of the overseas operators do not charge for receiving SMS.

29) With PAUR, what charges do I have to pay for my roaming calls?

With PAUR, you have to pay all roaming expenses incurred, for example:

a. All GlobalDial 121 or IDD(outgoing call charges)

b. All AutoRoam Rerouted Calls (receiving call charges)

c. All AutoRoam charges (imposed by overseas operators)

30). With PAUR, how will my bill look like?

Your bill will indicate the different Autoroam charges as PAUR has 20% surcharge. For example:

31) If I make a call to Singapore, can my friend or relative see my mobile phone number?

Yes (provided you have not subscribed to Caller Non-ID service).

32) Can I see the telephone number of incoming calls when I am roaming?

Yes, except when the number has been marked private or is unavailable (e.g. calls from payphones). Click here to check out the destinations where Roaming Caller-ID service is available.

33) Can I set Call Forward when I am roaming?

No. This service is disabled when you are roaming.

34) Since Call Forwarding to my voicemail is disabled when I roam overseas, do I have to set Call Forwarding again when I am back in Singapore?

There is no need to do so as your setting for Call Forwarding will remain as it is before you travel overseas.

35) Can anyone deposit voicemail in my voicemail box when I am roaming?

No. Once you log onto to the overseas operator's network, your Call Forwarding service will be disabled. Hence, no messages can be deposited into your voicemail box unless an unconditional call forwarding has been set.

36) Can I retrieve my voicemail when I am roaming?

Yes, you can retrieve old voicemails (deposited before you logged onto the overseas operator's network) when you are roaming. Just dial *121*65 96301389# or *121*651389# and wait for the system to call you back. Please note that you must pre-activate the voicemail function before leaving Singapore and also GlobalDial 121 charges will apply.

37) As an Autoroam subscriber, I can roam in Korea with SK Telecom and in Japan with J-Phone using my current GSM SIM card on a rented mobile phone (Pick & Roam service). Can I terminate Autoroam service and apply for “PAUR” instead?

No. Roaming with SK Telecom in Korea and J-Phone in Japan requires normal Autoroam subscription.
Yes, you can terminate AR service and apply for PAUR and still be able to roam into SK Telecom (using Korea-GSM handset) and J-Phone (3G - Nokia 7600 handset) by picking up the rental handset from SingTel Mobile Pick and Roam service.
However, note that all traffic charges will be subjected to 20% surcharge. 

38) Can I use PAUR for Pick & Roam in US (GSM1900 network) instead of subscribing to Autoroam service?

Yes, you can.

39) Can I use GPRS Roaming service (e.g. to access internet while roaming overseas) if I have PAUR?

Yes, you can.For more details on GPRS Roaming service, please refer to www.ideas.singtel.com.

40) What is the enhance?

With PAUR package, you can chose to use GD121 and IDD.
