3.How does the Outdoor Wireless Surf work?
SingTel installs access points or base stations at all Wireless Surf Zones, which transmit a radio signal to a user’s wireless LAN card (compliant to IEEE802.11b standard) with the Service Set Identifier (SSID) configured to 'Wireless@SG' . With a properly installed and configured wireless LAN card, a customer launched his internet Browser at a Wireless Surf Zone and receives a web-based log-in page to enter his user id and password. Once his account information is authenticated, he will be connected to the Internet via SingNet. With full connectivity to the Internet, customers can access any Internet resources, as well as any corporate networks to which they have access via the Internet.
