This service facilitates consumers to have wireless Internet access at selected public areas in Singapore. These public areas are called Wireless Surf Zones. [ back to top ] How does Wireless Broadband Access Service work? SingTel installs wireless access points at all the Wireless Surf Zones, which communicates with the consumer's wireless network card via IEEE802.11b standard. With a properly installed wireless network card and with Service Set Identifier (SSID) of the wireless network card configured to singtel, consumer will simply need to launch his Internet browser and request for an URL. This URL request will be intercepted and a web-based login page will be thrown to the consumer to enter his Login ID and Password. [ back to top ] How fast is SingTel's Wireless Broadband Access Service? SingTel Wireless Broadband Access Service can deliver up to speed of 512kbps downstream and up to 256kbps upstream per user. You can identify a Wireless Surf Zone via the visual below, which may appear in the form of decals, tent cards or posters at the Wireless Surf Zone premises.  [ back to top ] What is the signal coverage at each Wireless Surf Zone? The signal coverage is typically about 40 metres in radius from the wireless access point. The coverage may vary in each Wireless Surf Zone due to the following factors a. line of sight; b. interference of signals emitted by other transmitting and/or receiving devices; c. performance of wireless network card [ back to top ] About Service Costs How much do I have to pay to get the Service? This will depend on the service package and the arrangement you have with your FBO/SBO. Your FBO/SBO determines the final pricing for your Wireless Internet Service. This is dependent on the Internet access package you have signed with your FBO/SBO. [ back to top ] Other Matters Does SingTel sell this Service directly? No. SingTel only makes this service available through the FBOs/SBOs in Singapore. SingTel is not competing with the FBOs/SBOs but instead we consider them as our partners to make Wireless Broadband Access Service accessible to our mutual customers across Singapore.
