is mio Mobile? |
| mio Mobile
is a is a Value-Added Service (VAS) that allows SingTel Mobile Postpaid subscribers to make unlimited local mobile calls via the Internet. |
| What
is the difference between mobile calls via the Internet and normal Voice
Calls? |
| Mobile calls via the Internet uses VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology
and allows you to use WiFi Internet connection for your mobile
voice calls by sending the voice data in packets using IP.
Normal Voice Calls are routed over the GSM or 3G network.

| How do I sign up for mio Mobile? |
Residential customers can sign up for mio Mobile service at our hello! Stores or selected SingTel Exclusive Retailers, call 1626 or
VoIP ( 8647 ).
Business customers can sign up for mio Mobile service by calling 1626, 1606, 1800 763 1111 (SME Hotline), 1800 733 7788 (Corporate Hotline) or VoIP ( 8647 ).
Note: VoIP ( 8647 ) is applicable on selected Nokia handsets only.

| How fast will the Service be activated upon successful sign-up? |
The Service will be activated within 1 working day. You will receive a confirmation SMS upon successful activation. Please dial VoIP ( 8647 ) to configure your handset settings and you can start using the Service.
Note: VoIP ( 8647 ) is applicable on selected Nokia handsets only.

Service Pre-requisites |
| What
do I need to make a mobile call via the Internet? |
You need a VoIP-enabled phone and WiFi Internet connection
to make mobile calls via the Internet. Currently, only Nokia handsets namely
E90 Communicator, E61i, N95, E65, N80 Internet Edition, E61, E60 and Sony Ericsson P1i support mio
Mobile service. The firmware of Nokia E61 and E60 handsets
will need to be upgraded to support the Service. |
| What
are the wireless modem/routers that support this Service? |
| Currently the only modems that support the Service are the mio Box and 2Wire 2700HG. |
| What happens if I activate the Service using incompatible handset? |
| You will receive a message that the handset does not support the Service and the Service will not be activated. |
| What happens if I activate the Service accidentally even though I am an existing customer? |
| You will receive a message that you have already subscribed to the Service. |
| What
are the handsets that support this Service? |
Currently, only Nokia E90 Communicator, E61i, N95, E65, N80 Internet Edition, E61, E60 and Sony Ericsson P1i support mobile calls via the Internet. The firmware of Nokia E61 and E60
will need to be upgraded to support the Service. Please call
1626 to find out how to upgrade your handset firmware.

| If
I am a data only SIM customer, can I enjoy this Service? |
| No, the Service is not available for data only SIM customers. |
| Can I take up this service if I'm a 2-in-1 SIM user? |
| Yes, but if you apply for both mobile lines, it will be charged as 2 VASes. |

Service Usage |
| Can I choose
the type of call when I'm within the SingTel Wireless Surf Zone? |
| Yes, you can choose either to make a normal voice call or a mobile call via the Internet. |
| How
do I know if I’m logged on to the Service? |
For Nokia handsets, you will see 2 icons:
means
that you are logged on to the WiFi network and indicates that
you are ready to make mobile calls via the Internet.
For Sony Ericsson handsets, you will see the “Ready” sign when you launch the mio Mobile client.

| How
would I know whether the incoming call is a mobile call via the Internet
or normal GSM mobile call? |
| The incoming call display is a handset dependent feature.
Please check with your handset manufacturer for more information
on the incoming call display. |
| Is mio Mobile available to SingTel Mobile subscribers who have barred IDD or 1900 calls? |
| No, mio Mobile is not available to SingTel Mobile subscribers who have barred IDD or 1900 calls. |
| Does mio Mobile support my other Value-Added Services and mobile network features? |
| SingTel Mobile Valued-Added Services and mobile network
features including Call Forwarding, VoiceMail, Caller Number
Non-Display, Call Divert, Call Waiting and Colour-Me-Tone
will not be supported for calls made using mio Mobile. |
| As
a multi-SIM user, can I make multiple mobile calls via the Internet? |
| For each user account, the Service allows only one phone
to make mobile calls via the Internet at any one time. |
| Can I make Video Calls, SMS and MMS using mio Mobile Service? |
| No, the Service does not support Video Call and SMS/MMS.
However, you can continue to use these services via GSM/3G
if they are included in your existing SingTel Mobile plan. |
I am a BRN customer. Can I (the company) request SingTel to bar the service from SEND activation by my employees? |
SingTel does not bar BRN registered mobile numbers from activating through SEND. It is the responsibility of the company to ensure that only authorized employees are allowed to activate the service. |
| I’m
a port-in customer from StarHub/M1, can I subscribe to this
service? |
| Yes. |

Service Charging |
| How
am I charged for making a mobile call via the Internet? |
| All local outgoing mobile call via the Internet are free when you use
the Service at any SingTel Wireless Surf Zones or
via any WiFi Internet connections. All other usage like international
calls made via IDD001, STD020, BudgetCall 013, V019, ICC1898
and ICC1892 will be charged at the prevailing rates. |
| Do
I need to pay for incoming calls using the Service? |
Local Incoming Calls will be based on users’ mobile
plan, i.e. incoming calls for i-Plans are free. Incoming on-net
calls are also free. For Nokia handsets, incoming on-net calls
will be shown by this symbol:  Incoming
Calls from overseas numbers are routed via GSM/3G and hence,
normal SingTel Mobile charges apply. |
| If
I am at a SingTel Wireless Surf Zone, will I be charged for
the voice traffic? |
| All local outgoing Internet Calls are free when you use
the Service at SingTel Wireless Surf Zones (hotspots). The
locations of SingTel hotspots are listed at http://home.singtel.com/upload_hub/consumer/wsz.htm.

| What are the charges if I make mobile calls using mio Mobile service via overseas WiFi operators? |
| Once logged on to mio Mobile service, there'll be no charges if you call back to any Singapore fixed/mobile number (+65). If you call a non-Singapore number, prevailing IDD rates to that respective country will apply. Please note that roaming charges will apply for the receiving party, depending on the country. VoIP calls may be blocked by some ISPs or countries. |
| Can
I make calls to overseas numbers using the Service? |
| Yes, prevailing charges will apply for all international
calls made via IDD001, STD020, BudgetCall 013, V019, ICC1898
and ICC1892. |
| How
am I charged for making mobile calls via the Internet to overseas numbers? |
| The Local Outgoing Call is free while the charges for IDD
calls will be charged at the prevailing rates. |

Wireless (WiFi) Access |
| Can
I use my home Wireless access point to make calls using the
Service? |
| Yes, it is possible as long as you are able to get connected to an Internet connection which does not block SIP or VoIP traffic. Please note that the supported modems are the mio Box and 2Wire 2700HG. |
| How
about my office Wireless access point? |
It is possible to connect to the Service from any WiFi Internet
connection. However, if the wireless access point in your
office is behind a firewall or if other network policies are
imposed on the office network environment, this may affect
your Internet connectivity and prevent connection to the Service.
Please note that Internet access and connectivity are not
within the scope of the Service. |
| Where
can I find Wireless Surf Zones in Singapore? |
The list of Wireless Surf Zones can be found at http://home.singtel.com/upload_hub/consumer/wsz.htm

to send your request for the nearest Wireless Surf Zones.

| Do
I need to register my phone when I step into a SingTel Wireless
Surf Zone? |
| SingTel wireless network allows supported mio
Mobile-enabled phones to register with the Service
without logging in to the wireless network. |
| What
is the coverage of the Wireless zone? |
| The signal coverage is about 20m in radius from the Wireless access point and subject to interference of signals emitted by other transmitting and/or receiving devices. |
| What
is the access bandwidth? |
| The recommended minimum access bandwidth required for the
Service is 256kbps. |
| Do I incur Internet access charges when using the Service? |
| Access and connectivity via WiFi are not within the scope of the Service. The Service is connected via the Internet so you may need to pay for Internet connectivity depending on your ISP. |
| What
will happen to my mobile call via the Internet if I walk out of the WiFi
coverage? |
| Your mobile call via the Internet will be disconnected. |
| Can
I reconnect my call? |
| If you are out of WiFi coverage, you can make a normal GSM
mobile call and the call will be charged as per your mobile
price plan. |
| Will
my WiFi connection be disconnected when there's an incoming
call? |
| No, the WiFi connection remains connected. |
| What happens to my mobile call via the Internet when there is an incoming call? |
| If there is an incoming GSM call during a mobile call via the Internet, this will be indicated on the phone. Call Waiting will be enabled and the user can answer the incoming GSM call and switch between both calls. |
| Can
I surf via WiFi and make mio Mobile calls at the same time? |
| Yes, after you have logged on to the service, open the web browser and start surfing. |
| If
I have difficulty connecting via WiFi, who should I call? |
| Access and connectivity via WiFi are not within the scope
of the Service. Please call your WiFi operator for enquiries. |
| If
I have difficulty connecting to the Internet, who should I
call? |
| Internet access and connectivity are not within the scope
of the Service. Please call your ISP (Internet Service Provider)
for enquiries. |
| If
I‘m able to connect to the Internet but unable to make
a mobile call via the Internet, who should I call? |
| Please call 1626. |

Wireless Modem Configuration |
| Do
I need to change any configuration on my mio Box? |
Yes, you need to ensure that the SIP Application Layer Gateway checkbox is not checked. To configure your 2WIRE 1800HG / 2700HG / 2700HGV modem, please go to http://192.168.1.254/mdc via your Internet browser.
Login with “2wire” (case-sensitive) as the password and select “Submit”. At the left menu bar, select “Configure Services” to locate the “SIP Application Layer Gateway” option and ensure that the checkbox is not checked.
