is mio Voice? |
mio
Voice is SingTel’s new digital voice service offered
which allows customers to make unlimited local calls at
home.
To enjoy mio Voice,
you must have:
- mio Voice
- mio Box (Home Gateway Modem)
- Any telephone set - Corded or DECT*
*DECT - Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications
is an ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute)
standard set for digital portable phones. It does not have
cross-line issues like analogue cordless telephones.

| What
is SingTel Fixed Line? |
SingTel Fixed Line is an analogue voice
service that is offered currently and used by all customers
locally. Currently, SingTel Fixed Line customers are charged
monthly for traffic usage in addition to a quarterly subscription
fee; whereas mio Voice
customers will be able to make unlimited local calls at
a fixed monthly subscription fee.
Customers can choose to sign up for SingTel Fixed Line
service in addition to mio
Voice. If mio Box is not working due to power failure,
customers can still make analog calls via the SingTel Fixed Line. |
| What
kind of calls can I make with mio Voice? |
With mio
Voice, you can make unlimited local calls to any
fixed or mobile telephone line from SingTel or other operators
such as MobileOne and StarHub. IDD calls will be charged
as per existing rate. Currently, there are no special discounts
for IDD calls.
Customers who wish to use StarHub’s IDD service and MobileOne’s IDD service must first registered with them.
In general, most of the services which are available on
your existing SingTel Fixed Line are available with the
new mio Voice. |

mio Voice make outgoing and receive incoming calls with other
operators’ Fixed Line service (e.g. StarHub Digital
Voice)? |

| What
are the Value-Added Services (VAS) available for the new
mio Voice service? |
We have studied the trends of our comprehensive
range of Value-Added Services for our existing SingTel Fixed Line service and have offered the following for the
new mio Voice
at point of service launch:
A) Basic VAS Pack at $4.28/mth:
• Caller-ID
• Call Waiting

• 3-Way Calling
B) Ala-carte Individual VAS/s at $2.14/mth each:
• Caller-ID

**VoiceMail & Caller Alert cannot inter-work together. E.g. if mio Voice customers choose to sign up VoiceMail service, Caller Alert will not be provided.

I am an existing SingTel Fixed Line user, can I retain my
current number on the new mio Voice service? |
Yes, you can retain your existing SingTel Fixed Line number onto your new mio
Voice. However, please note that there may be a maximum
of 1 day service disruption before your new mio
Voice is ready for use.
In addition, if you decide to keep your SingTel Fixed Line Service, you will be given a new Fixed Line number.
Your new SingTel Fixed Line number cannot be the same
number as the one which you port over to the mio
Voice.

I request for new mio Voice numbers? |
Yes you can. If you request for a new mio
Voice number, you can select numbers from mio Voice number ranges.
In addition, if you choose to retain your existing SingTel Fixed Line, you can retain your SingTel Fixed Line number provided
that you do not request for number port to mio
Voice. |
| Can
I retain my existing SingTel Fixed Line number from other operators? |
Yes. To retain your existing SingTel Fixed Line
number, you need to subscribe for our Number Retention Service
which is offered to all customers for free. |
| What
is Number Retention Service? |
Number Retention is a service which allows you to keep your existing SingTel Fixed Line number when you switch to SingTel's new mio Voice service. |
| How
will I be billed for my new mio Voice subscription? |
Your bill will be sent to you at the end
of each month. Depending on your request, there may be one-time
charges incurred at point of sign up (e.g. connection charge,
on-site service charge) or installation (Wiring charge,
material charge etc.).
If you are SingTel’s mio
Plan customer, you will enjoy free subscription
of mio Voice.

| Can
mio Voice make outgoing and receive incoming overseas calls
from overseas operators? If yes, any additional charges? |
Yes. Incoming overseas calls are free. Whereas
outgoing overseas calls will be charged are the same as
existing rates. |
| Can
I retain my existing business SingTel Fixed Line phone number if I
subscribe to mio Voice service? |
No, SingTel’s mio
Voice is currently only available to residential
customers. |
| Can
business customers apply for mio Voice? |
At this current moment, SingTel’s new mio
Voice service is only available to residential customers.

| Will
my current telephone set work with mio Voice service? |
In general, most IDA certified telephone sets should work with mio Voice. For a list of recommended phone sets, please click here. |
| Can
mio Voice work on the old rotary telephones? |
No. |
| My
house is wired with home security alarm system from ADT/CISCO.
Can these alarm systems work on mio Voice? |
We strongly recommend that you keep your
current SingTel Fixed Line service to work with your home security
alarm system. It is not recommended to connect your current
alarm system to work with mio
Voice service. Nevertheless, you can subscribe to
mio Voice service
separately to enjoy the unlimited local calls. |
| Does
mio Voice service support pulse-dialling telephone sets? |
No. |
| Can
emergency calls to numbers such as 999 or 995 be made if there
is a power failure? |
No, you cannot make any outgoing or receive
incoming calls in the event of a power failure. You may like to fall back on your mobile phone when this occurs. |
| Can
I surf SingNet BroadBand and make voice call simultaneously? |
Yes, you can do the above concurrently using
mio Box. |
| Will
making voice calls while surfing the Internet compromise the
service quality of the two services? |
Our system network is built to support both
voice & Internet data traffic simultaneously. The service
quality of both services should not be affected under normal
conditions. |
| Does
mio Voice support answering machines or similar devices? |
Yes, mio
Voice support answering machines. However, we would
recommend you refer to your equipment vendor for more information.
Alternatively, you can subscribe to our VoiceMail service.

| Does mio Voice support faxing? Will the fax call be charged? |
mio Voice should work with most fax machines. For optimum results, do ensure your fax is not more than 20 pages. Please consult your fax machine vendor, if you need any assistance on hardware configurations or compatibility information of your fax machine.
Local fax calls are free; however, should the fax call be made to an overseas number, the usual IDD charge will apply. |

mio Voice support dial-up modem usage or can I subscribe dial-up
service on mio Voice service? |

2. Charges |
| Is
there any additional charges if I retain my current number
as SingTel Fixed Line? |
No. There are no additional charges if you
port your current number to mio
Voice. |
| Why
are the charges different for SingTel Fixed Line & mio Voice? |
The charges are different as they are two
different services. mio
Voice is a digital voice service which works via
mio Box over broadband and offers you unlimited
local calls at a fixed monthly subscription, whereas the
SingTel Fixed Line is a traditional analogue voice service
that works independently without the need of any modems
or power supply. |

3. Usage |
| Will
I incur any additional usage charges if I subscribe to mio
Voice? |
No. You can enjoy unlimited local calls at
1 fixed monthly subscription fee. IDD rates are billed for
overseas calls as per current practice. |
| What will happen to my dial-up account if I convert my current SingTel Fixed Line to mio Voice Line? |
You’ll lose your existing dial-up email account. We strongly encourage you to take up a SingNet BroadBand 1Mbps Unlimited Plan and enjoy 33% savings off your mio
Voice subscription. If you take up mio
Plan, you will enjoy great savings and unlimited local fixed line calls!

| What
is mymio Broadband? |
mymio Broadband is a free 256kbps broadband
service offered to non-broadband users with 1st 50MB volume
free. Subsequent usage will be charged @ 16.05cents per MB. |
| Will
the unlimited local calls made under mio Voice "count" towards
the broadband Internet usage? |
Calls made using mio
Voice will not incur any broadband Internet usage. |
| Can I bar outgoing 1900 calls from my mio Voice Line? |
Yes, you may apply for 1900 Fixed Barring which bars outgoing audio calls (1900) from the mio Voice line permanently.
First time activation is non-chargeable. Subsequent requests for re-barring of the line will incur a one-time charge of $53.50. |

4. Application & Termination |
What
is the minimum subscription period? |
The minimum subscription period for the main
mio Voice and supplementary mio Voice is 3 months. |
| What
are the documents required for application? |
You will need to produce the necessary documents
like your NRIC, work permit and passport for verification. |
| Where
can I go to apply for mio Voice? |
You may go to any hello! Stores or selected
SingTel Exclusive Retailers to apply. |
| How
long does it take for mio Voice to be activated? |
Under normal circumstances, it’ll be activated
take 4 working days. However, due to the service line condition
or location, it may take about 1 month or longer for the
Service to be activated. |
| Can
I cancel my application before activation? |
Yes, however there will be a cancellation
charge at $21.40 before activation. This is to cover work that
has already been carried out before your activation has
taken place. |
| Is
there any penalty if I terminate mio Voice within the contractual
period? |
Early Termination Charge applies if termination
is within the contractual period. |

5. About The Equipment |
| Do
I need to keep the mio Box powered on at
all times? |
Yes, you will need to keep mio
Box powered on at all times. mio
Voice will not work if you switch it off or when
there is a power failure. |
| Does
the mio Box have standby power back-up? |
No, mio Box does not have
standby power back-up. You will not be able to receive incoming
and make outgoing calls in the event of a power failure.
For customers who are concerned about power-related disruptions,
you may want to consider installing a back-up power option
such as Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) unit. The UPS
unit will provide back-up power in the event of power failure,
thus ensuring that there will be no service disruption for
mio Voice.
Nevertheless, you can still make calls using your mobile
phones in the event of a power failure. |
| What
should I do if my phone has no dial tone after installing? |
Please do a check on the following areas:
The phone is connected to the blue and red voice ports via
RJ11. If you have subscribed for 1 mio
Voice service, it should be plugged onto the red
port. If you have signed up for a secondary line, it should
be plugged onto the blue port. Ensure the mio
Box is powered on i.e. the indicator should be green. |
| How
do I know if the mio Box is working? |
When you power up the mio
Box, all the LED lights should start to blink one after
the other. In its operationally ready state, the lights
would turn solid green. Then plug your home phone into the
telephone jack at the back panel of the mio Box, you should
hear a dial tone after a short while. You can start making
outgoing and receiving incoming calls once you hear the
dial tone. |
| What
should I do if I lose the mio Box or information
such as System IDs? |
Please report the loss immediately to our
Customer Service Hotline @ 1800 555 6000. This is important
as you are liable for any call charges incurred until you
report the loss to us. |
| Will
powering up mio Box at all times consume
a lot of electricity? |
mio Box is a low-power device,
so it consumes very minimal electricity. Typical power consumption
is below 13 watts, which will cost less than $2 per month
(estimation calculated from SP Services). |

6. Installation |
| How
do I install mio Voice? |
Upon signing up to mio Voice, a SingTel installer
will go to your house to do all necessary setup, configuration
and installation. You do not need to do any installation
yourself. |

What will the installer do during on-site? |
Installer will set up your existing services
e.g. SingNet BroadBand etc on the mio Box. The installer
will then configure the mio
Voice number and System ID in mio
Box. |
| How
will a typical setup of mio Voice in a house be? |
A customer who signs up with 1 mio
Voice will typically have the following setup:

If you are an existing SingNet customer, please have your
SingNet BroadBand UserID and Password ready when the Technician
comes to your home.
